Gedera Outline Plan
The work on Gedera's Outline Plan is currently in the phase of collecting and analyzing data. The Plan will focus on the unique qualities of the local council, located in "Rehovot" district, and currently has 24,400 inhabitants. Gedera is composed of layers such as heritage of the first Jewish settlements, historical buildings and sites, agricultural legacy, open spaces and urban spaces. Gedera is located near the main transportation arteries and enjoys high accessibility to private vehicles.
The main scenic themes:
- The cultural landscape of Gedera - agricultural environment surrounding Gedera. Hills and vantage points reveal the agricultural areas.
- Nahal Sorek – An significant area Is Nahal Sorek, which is a strip ,north to the settlement, which is currently polluted and narrow, is an opportunity to create an large open space, by restoring the stream create an urban wildlife site.
- Public open spaces scheme - based on the many statutory gardens, many of which are not developed, and strengthen them by creating green axes will cross barriers and link the city.
- Landmarks and conservation sites - Strengthening the "Genius Luci" and historical context of the historic colony connecting it to the open spaces. With emphasis on Bilu Street, this is the main entrance to Gedera.
