Gan Ben Shefer
Ben-Shefer Garden is an old garden in the center of Herzliya. Named after Tzvi Ben-shefer - the settlements 'muchtar' for the British mandate in the early 20's. The vast garden in the city center is open for the public and functions also as a memorial garden for the fallen. The garden hosts events and open concerts.
As part of the development work, the area of the garden expended to 12 dunam, to include the first well of the city. Beside the old well, where an old water pool used to be, now lies an ecological pool.
Next to the stage, the lawn was carefully shaped as a modest amphitheater between pre existing old trees.
The main goals of the new design are on the one hand to preserve the modest nature of the existing garden and, on the other hand, to add new modern features, like a play area, designed to imitate Sokolov street at the beginning of the 20th century, rearranging the area around the existing monument to host ceremonies and, also opening the facade of the garden to be a part of street.
