Ben-Gurion Family Grave National Park
The family grave of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and his wife Pola, is situated about 5 km south of the kibbutz of "Sde Boker", in order to respect the wish of who dreamt of settling the "Negev" and bringing life into the desert.
The National Park was planned in the early 70's, after our office won a design competition, with the concept of giving a landscaping translation to Ben-Gurion's Vision of "Blooming the desert".
The path leading to the tombstone is shaped as a narrow ravine with chosen wild desert plants that will best express the blossom motif. The garden-path continues for 300 m' before it reaches the tomb, located on a steep cliff, overlooking the beautiful primeval landscape of 'Zin' valley and 'Ovdat' plain situated on a steep cliff overlooking the beautiful primeval landscape of 'Zin' valley and 'Ovdat' plain.
The modest design and detailing create a dramatic experience, making a unique connection between the tale of the garden, its function and the ideology that it represents.
