Shaar Hanegev Educating Center
Shaar hanegev educating center located in the northen part of the negev desert, not far from the Gaza strip. The center combines a new high school and mid school, fully shielded against a missile attack.
Many different layers created the plan for the school yard, social, design, environmental and also the security issues, all inducted in to the plan.
The paths surrounding the buildings are floating and continual. The main structure of the plan is the topography design creating different kinds and sizes of gathering areas in the yard from intimate ones to large ones.
The main principals of the vegetation plan for the site are for it to create a link to the land and Jewish tradition, through using local trees and plants. Strong, water sufficient and low maintenances plants were chosen under the education board regulations of non toxic plants, non prickly and non allergenic plants. 26 Shielded huts were situated in the yard covered with vines.
Several theme complexes were planned in the school yard: an archaeological garden, containing exhibits about daily life, architecture and more.
Another large complex includes an educational, ecological greenhouse, outdoor classes and farming plots, on the background of orchard trees and vines. Also will be executed in the near future is a sport and gymnastic facilities complex.
