Kaplan Hospital, Master Plan
The landscape addendum, accompanying the hospital masterplan, is mainly based on the conservation of the open space in the middle of the hospital. This open space was the hospital's design principal since it was founded.
The design's goal is to preserve the character of the green heart and the connection between it and the planned department buildings. The hospital is situated at the entrance to the city of Rehovot and will be connected to it according to the plan, thus, allowing patients, staff members and citizens to use the open spaces. The future design will include pedestrians and cycling roads as well as sports and recreation facilities, an amphitheater and a vast lawn, interwoven with old trees.
The masterplan outlines runoff water treatment, its purification and returning to the groundwater, the preservation of the character of the central lawn, preservation of old trees, integrating artworks within the open spaces as a healing assistance, noise and nuisance masking towards the neighboring neighborhoods, while strengthening the functional connections between the citizens and the hospital.
