About the project

The new Beer-Sheva zoological park was born from a vision to promote wildlife conservation through education and identification, fostering empathy and a commitment to animal welfare. To create an authentic encounter with the animals, the habitats were designed to closely simulate their natural environments.
Midbarium features four distinct habitats, each showcasing the animals, landscapes, and vegetation characteristic of the desert formation it represents: Canyon, Steppe, Oasis, and Savannah. At the entrance, alongside the administration building, two plazas were designed to welcome visitors on both the exterior and interior sides of the park, providing spaces for gathering and preparation before starting the journey.
The park’s path system consists of a wide, shaded circular route, with secondary paths leading into the various habitats. Wandering through the garden offers an experience similar to a trek in the wild, where visitors constantly discover new vistas. Along the winding paths, diverse and intriguing animals appear, each perfectly adapted to its surroundings. Over 1,300 trees were planted throughout the park to provide shade along the walking routes, complemented by numerous pergolas and shading structures at observation points and rest areas. The meticulous planting design was tailored to match the specific habitats and to guide the visitors’ views.
