Sacher Park Jerusalem

Sacher Park Jerusalem

About the project

Sacher Park was originally designed in the 1960s by Yahalom-Zur Architects and has undergone many transformations over the decades. The most significant change occurred in the 1990s with the opening of Rabin Road toward the Supreme Court, which bisected the park. Over time, the park’s original design language faded, and various additions caused it to lose its charm. The renewal project was initiated to enrich the user experience while preserving the historic framework and character of the park.
As part of the restoration, sports courts that previously formed a major barrier in the center of the park were removed and relocated, replaced by lawns with soft, flowing topography. The park was expanded to include western areas that had been disconnected from the center, while a diverse sports complex was established in the northern section. Commuter routes through the park were widened with new accessible paths, making the entire site fully accessible. Recreational and sports activities were integrated throughout the park, including a large 3-dunam playground that blends into its sloping surroundings through topographic design, eliminating the need for retaining walls.
